KANAB CITY JOB ANNOUNCEMENT CITY MANAGER/RECORDER
Salary: $55,000 to $70,000, plus a benefits package

Kanab City, Utah, is accepting applications for the position of City Manager/Recorder. Kanab has a six member Council form of government, and the City Manager works under the broad policy guidance and direction of the Mayor and City Council. The City's population is approximately 4,300, with annual total budgets of approximately $4 million ($2.6 million General Fund).
Kanab is the commercial center of a farming, ranching and recreational community. As the seat of Kane County, Kanab is often called "Little Hollywood" because of its film-making history over the years. The City sits at the hub of the southwest's national parks and offers exciting vacation opportunities year round. Kanab is located seven miles north of the Arizona border on U.S. Alternate 89, and is centrally located between Las Vegas, NV, Phoenix, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO and Salt Lake City, UT.
City Manager/Recorder Position: The City Manager serves as the City's chief administrative officer and manages the day-to-day operations and internal affairs of the City; carries out policies and programs established by the Council; problem-solves with the citizens of Kanab; supervises 20 full time, plus part time and seasonal, employees; manages the Council agenda; interacts with the Council to discuss and recommend action on issues, policies and political developments; prepares and oversees the administration of the City's budget; attends all meetings of the Council and takes part in its discussions and deliberations; and such other duties as may be assigned. City operations include public works, police, fire, planning and zoning, water/sewer, parks, library, airport, and heritage. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership, consensus building, interpersonal and financial skills, and proven effectiveness in working with administrative staff, elected officials and citizens. A degree in public administration, finance, or another field found acceptable by the Council, together with progressively responsible municipal and supervisory experience is preferred.
