About Our Lifestyle
Country living, small town neighborhoods and still close enough to everything you might want - that's the wonderful charm of this idyllic community. Located in the beautiful Cache Valley, about 80 miles north of Salt Lake City, Nibley has historically been a rural farming community but is coming of age as a wonderful place for families. It continues to be blessed today with the pastoral ambience of its farms, the rugged beauty of the Blacksmith Fork River and the splendor of 360 degree mountain views. Add to that its great schools, green parks and beautiful neighborhoods, and you'll see why Nibley's residents couldn't resist moving here. And when we said close enough to everything; we were talking about cultural amenities in the valley such as the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, the Cache Valley Civic Ballet, the American Festival Chorus, and so much more. And then there are the sports, academics, economic and cultural influences that come from being in a college town, with Utah State University just down the road. You'll find us on US 89, the scenic route to the Tetons and Yellowstone. Just ten minutes up US 89 from Nibley, you'll enter the National Forest via Logan Canyon, a National Scenic Byway that will take you by a great ski resort and to Bear Lake - the Caribbean of the Rockies. Check out www.tourcachevalley.com for more information about the wonderful Cache Valley or come by to visit and you'll find out why so many groups list our region as one of America's best places to live.
About Nibley City
Nibley City was settled in 1855, incorporated in 1935, and by the year 2000 had grown to about 2,000 residents. Since 2000, Nibley has tripled in size to its current population of nearly 6,000 residents. Although that growth has moderated from the peak of a few years ago, Nibley remains the fastest growing city in Cache County, a testament to the value people find in Nibley. Nibley City has about 40 employees and a $6 million dollar annual budget, including a general fund budget of about $2 million dollars.
Nibley City is recruiting a Finance Director to manage the day-to-day financial affairs of Nibley City. Under the supervision of the City Manager, the Finance Director is responsible for performing the necessary financial oversight, planning, and administrative duties to uphold the city's fiduciary responsibilities and maintain good stewardship of the tax dollars entrusted to it. The Director prepares budgets and implements city financial policies; has official responsibility for accounting for all receipts and disbursements of city funds; and prepares a variety of financial records, reports and filings. Additionally, the director is responsible for management of the general ledger and investments. The Finance Director would be appointed to serve as the City Treasurer.
