JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Program and Policy Associate
Description: Utah Clean Energy is a nonprofit advocacy organization based in Salt Lake City, Utah that is working to stop energy waste, create clean energy, and build a smart energy future. We are seeking a smart, passionate, and engaging individual to advance our clean energy initiatives in Utah and the West. Responsibilities include:
Work with a diverse set of partners to inform, educate, and build support for energy efficiency and distributed generation in Utah and the West, while nurturing strong and lasting relationships
Oversee key programs, as well as report on program activities to various funders and partner agencies
Provide technical analysis and data review of energy efficiency and distributed generation programs, policies, statutes, and regulations at the state, federal, and local government level
Make compelling written and oral presentations to policy makers, business stakeholders, community groups, and government representatives
Advocate for energy efficiency and distributed generation programs and policies with the Utah State Legislature, government agencies, business stakeholders, and the media, as appropriate
Develop content for communications materials for Utah Clean Energy’s energy efficiency and distributed generation programs and policy efforts.
Collaborate with Utah Clean Energy staff to advance regulatory issues relating to clean energy, as needed.
Assist with identifying possible funding opportunities and supporting grant proposal development.
Preferred Qualifications: Ideally, applicants should have experience working on policy-related issues for a consulting or research firm, nonprofit organization, or government agency. Preference for individuals with a Bachelor’s Degree and at least four years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and at least two years of related experience. In addition, we are seeking candidates with the following qualities:
Passionate about creating a clean energy future for Utah and the West
Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to distill technical information into easy to understand talking points
Highly organized and self-directed
Ability to work independently, as well as effectively manage a small team of support staff
Demonstrated collaboration, networking and relationship-building skills with professional leaders
Strong understanding of policymaking and regulatory process, with respect for and understanding of stakeholders’ positions and integrity in all dealings
Desire to be a part of an influential team of professionals, who embrace high quality, impactful work and a healthy work-life balance
Compensation: Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience and includes a benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work in a relaxed environment close to recreation opportunities in Utah.
