This is a senior level research consulting job. The Research Consultant regularly consults with and makes presentations directly to agency executives, local and statewide elected officials, legislators, and multi-state or national organizations. The Research Consultant is authorized to use considerable discretion and judgment in the performance of tasks and must be able to work independently. The Research Consultant performs analysis of critical issues impacting an agency. The Research Consultant forms conclusions, and develops recommendations for policy, programs, regulations, etc; determines goals and objectives; and determines appropriate methodologies, information sources, sampling strategies, data collection tools, etc. The Research Consultant provides expertise in research design, analysis, and data needed to examine issues, trends, recommends policy options based on findings and provides impact analyses; and facilitates the use of research data to improve existing programs. The Research Consultant assists in the development or modification of established policies, guidelines, practices, etc. The Research Consultant works with a high level of autonomy and discretion with little to no supervisory controls, and errors in data/recommendations may have significant impact to the agency, local governments, and the public at large.
Preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge of the criminal justice system and justice reform initiatives.
